About Bill

Most of my childhood rearing was in the "wicked awesome" town of Melrose, Massachusetts (just north of Boston).  Melrose is a  small town, where one can literally walk from one end to the other, which is probably where I developed my love for the outdoors.  There was no need to drive when I could just walk along streets lined with elms and maples hundreds of years old, magnificent Victorian homes, and, in winter, cross a frozen Ell Pond which would take me from Melrose's only high school over to a warm slice at Caruso's Pizzeria.

About Colorado Springs Wedding Officiant Bill Donovan

I grew up having the greatest of friends and I still communicate with many of them.  I was the typical high school jock; playing soccer, basketball, baseball, and any other game my friends and I could invent at our usual hangouts.

I am the second child of four.  I have two sisters, Terry and Patty, and a brother, Brian.  My mother still lives in the first house we ever bought which is in Melrose.  My father died when I was fourteen, and it is around that time I unknowingly started developing the traits of a leader.

I moved to Colorado in 1992 and worked for Hewlett Packard as a computer operator for seven years.  In 1994  I moved on to an information technology job with MCI, which became Worldcom, and then Verizon and worked there for fifteen years up until May of 2009.  My last position was a project & program manager team lead with team members in the United States, India, and Argentina.

I enjoy disc golf, hiking, fishing, hunting, cycling, writing, playing my blues harp, snow shoeing, snow caving, kayaking, music, creating landscapes in my yard, photography, astronomy, and nature in general.  My wife and I have recently become more involved with the homeless in Colorado Springs and other, local, charitable organizations.  I even get to be Santa Claus with the Springs Rescue Mission!

I've had the opportunity to travel to Aruba, Bermuda, Argentina, Canada, and I've cycled Ireland. The most significant, however, was a trip I took to Telluride, Colorado in April of 2001 where I married the love of my life, Tammie.  We were married on a mountain with approximately sixty friends and family members next to a pair of skis nailed into the shape of a cross.  Talk about beautiful - the setting as well as the woman who became my best friend.

Our families merged and we have four children, although 'children' doesn't seem to cut it anymore since they range in ages 19-22, Nicole, Jillian, Zachary, and Tyler.  They all live in Colorado and are living good lives in this beautiful state.

The opportunity to work with Maureen and Lyssabeth's came into my life like a Chinook wind rolling down from the Rockies and almost knocking you over.  I thought about how beautiful our wedding in Telluride was and at that moment I was writing to Maureen telling her I think I'd be a good fit with her team in Colorado Springs.  I even sent her the wedding vows I wrote back in 2001.

I love meeting so many different types of people as their Lyssabeth's wedding officiant. Taking part in one of the most important and beautiful occasions in a couple's life is unbelievably rewarding and fun.  I'll do what it takes to make your wedding day a joyful and memorable experience--from climbing a mountain, crossing a river, holding the doggie ring bearer's leash, or even enunciating those elusive 'R's' (no worries--I've lived in Colorado long enough, so it is possible!) as we partake in the wonderful ceremony that is the joining two people together as they commit their hearts.
